Slumber Party Ideas

Kids love a sleepover and we've got some great ideas to help you make it a special and fun night to remember

Remember how good slumber parties were back in the day!?

Of course back then it was bring your own sleeping bag and pillow, have some snacks, watch a movie and of course chat and giggle all night. The fundamentals are still the same these days, but some people like to take their parties to the next level and we’re going to give you some ideas that can help you do the same.

Go all out with or do the bare minimum – either way the kids will have the best time (and you may lose your mind around the 2am mark – but you can’t have everything).

  1. Start with these adorable sleep mask invitations found at Art and Chic Blogspot
  2. If you’re going all out you’ve got to check out a slumber party hire places, such as the wonderful Teepee Dreams
  3. One thing we all know about kids – they eat a lot! By the time they’re in the door and have squealed and chosen their spot on the floor, the next step is asking for food. Make your own pizza is always fun and yum! Like this one by Project Nursery
  4. Post food calm down with decorating your own pillowcase – bonus is they can also count as their party favour. Make your own or use a kit such as the ones by Oh, Susannah
  5. Of course the next stop is more food. Some amazing cookies will make them happy. These Minecraft ones are by Emmy’s Cookie Co
  6. Here’s another amazing teepee set up, this one by Little Big Parties
  7. Another fun craft activity to keep them busy and entertained is making dream catchers. They come with the added bonus of being able to tell the kids they’ll keep away bad dreams during the night. A  great tutorial is available at Rebecca Propes Design and DIY
  8. It’s now probably time for the kids to settle down into their beds and watch a movie. The parents are hoping it will lull them into a nice sweet sleep (spoiled – it doesn’t!). What’s a movie without popcorn?! Make it even more fun with a popcorn bar like this one by Pretty Providence
  9. The movie’s ended and you’ve bid goodnight to the kids… Just when you have hope that there may be sleep you hear the pitter patter and giggles of children on the hunt for a midnight snack. In the hopes of being able to ignore the noise and stay in your own bed, you could set out an amazing snack for them to find – like this princess toast by Taste of Home
  10. Now I was going to put in a pic of an amazing pancake stack, but you’ve just survived a slumber party and chance you have little left for to give. Enter mini cereal boxes! Who remembers the excitement (and battles to get your favourite) when these came out? Maybe buy a few extras because Coco Pops are all they’re really after…You can pretty them up a bit like these ones by Kara’s Party Ideas
